The community Pidyon Petter Chamor – a first for the Detroit community – was held Thursday, April 17, 2014 during Chol HaMoed Pesach. Over 1,500 participants attended the event at Young Israel of Oak Park.

Chometz may be purchased from the following stores in the Greater Detroit area. Please consult your Rav concerning buying chometz after Pesach from Jewish owned stores that do not observe Pesach. Buying chometz from Kroger and Target is not recommended until May 7.

The below post regarding children’s ibuprofen is outdated.
CHILDREN’S IBUPROFEN – The cRc has approved the following children’s ibuprofen products for Pesach:

  • CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens brands of Infant Ibuprofen Drops in 0.5 oz. or 1 oz. packages, only when the lot code begins with 007
  • Walgreens Junior Strength Ibuprofen 100 Chewable Tablets in Orange or Grape flavors


MEHADRIN FIT ‘n FREE BLUEBERRY YOGURT without Pesach certification was mistakenly sold at One Stop in the Pesach section. Please check your products.

The following update applies to the PesachGram’s list of products which may be used for Pesach without special kosher for Pesach certification.

Water with only minerals added is acceptable.

JOYVA RING JELLS – CHOCOLATE COVERED contains corn syrup and soy lecithin, and is not recommended for Pesach, despite the “Kosher for Passover” wording on the label. This was mistakenly sold in the Pesach section locally.

Some non-Pesach certified containers of TROPICANA ORANGE JUICE and FLAUM FAMILY PACK SOUR PICKLES may have inadvertently been placed in the Pesach section locally. If you have purchased these products for Pesach, please check each label for Pesach certification.

SPARTAN BRAND  CRACKERS, COOKIES AND, WAFERS: Some packaging for these products was mistakenly labeled with an OU-P. These products are not Kosher for Pesach. The latest “use by” date for the mislabeled products was February 2014.

The following updates apply to the PesachGram’s list of products which may be used for Pesach without special kosher for Pesach certification:
ANALGESICS: Advil tablets & caplets (regular – not film coated)
LEMON JUICE, LIME JUICE: ReaLemon with OU, ReaLime with OU.
SUGAR: Big Chief, Pioneer and Peninsular brands of white granulated sugar with the K-COR symbol (no P required), Domino with OK-P. [Note: Brown sugar and confectioners sugar require Pesach certification.]

In the printed edition of the PesachGram, the correct candle lighting times for the second night of Pesach should read as follows:
