ALDI PRODUCTS: The Kashrus status of Aldi products often changes due to changes in suppliers or formulations. Always check each individual package, as even the same product may bear reliable certification on some packages and not on others. The Kashrus status may also differ in different regions. Following are some recent examples:
• MILLVILLE CEREALS – The following no longer bear an OU in certain areas (e.g. Lakewood, Baltimore and others). In some areas, including Detroit, they still bear an OU, but this can change at any time.
o MILLVILLE BRAN FLAKES
o MILLVILLE KOOKIES CEREAL
o MILLVILLE CHOCOLATE PUFFS CEREAL
o MILLVILLE HONEY CRUNCH ‘N OATS
• CLANCY’S PRETZELS – MINI TWISTS and STICKS (unseasoned 1 lb. bags) now bear OK-D and should not be eaten together with meat.
• SPECIALLY SELECTED JALAPENO STUFFED OLIVES no longer bears an OU, and now lists wine vinegar in some regions.
• ALDI FRUIT STRIPS bears a Star-K symbol in some areas, and in other areas bears no Kashrus marking.
THE CHODOSH SEASON is approaching. The following is from the Star-K as of July 21: “The new chodosh season has not yet started. At this time, all projections indicate that there is no need for consumers to be concerned about any chodosh flour or products until at least August 25. Further updates will be issued mid August. Please check back [at https://www.star-k.org/articles/yoshon/4123/yoshon-pasyisroel-updates/ ] after August 15.”
Please note that all grain and flour products that will be stored over the Chodosh season should be refrigerated to avoid insect infestation.
PLANTERS NUT PRODUCTS are acceptable only when bearing an OU symbol. Products bearing a K (which include most Planters Dry Roasted items and some Honey Roasted items) may contain gelatin, or may be produced on the same equipment as non-approved products.
Planters 24 Variety Pack and 36 Variety Pack boxes contain individually packed Salted Cashews and Salted Peanuts that bear an OU, and also individually packed Honey Roasted Peanuts that bear a K. Only those with an OU are recommended.
THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS BEAR UNAUTHORIZED KASHRUS MARKING on some labels:
• CARM’S FARM TOMATO SAUCES and any Carm’s Farm products – unauthorized OU symbol. • ANNABELLA CHEESE – unauthorized OU symbol.
• AL DENTE SQUID INK FETTUCCINE – unauthorized OK symbol. This product is not Kosher.
THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS CONTAIN DAIRY INGREDIENTS AND ARE CERTIFIED KOSHER DAIRY, but mistakenly do not bear the D designation on some labels:
• OAT HAUS brand SALTED CARAMEL FLAVORED GRANOLA BUTTER [cRc-D]
• SELECT HARVEST CREME BRULEE FLAVORED MONK CRUNCH [OU-D]
