AS MANY GARMENTS ARE BEING FOUND WITH SHATNEZ INCLUDING THOSE THAT HAVE UNFORTUNATELY BEEN WORN, VAAD L’MISHMERES SHATNEZ IS RELEASING THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT:

“There are at least basic errors that some people have which have led them to wear shatnez.

  1. “Shatnez is not found in children’s or women’s clothing.”

“Wrong!  Shatnez is common in women’s and children’s garments. Recently, over 30 types of sweaters were found to be shatnez; most of them were women’s! Suits and coats of women and children are also being found with shatnez.

  1. “Shatnez is not found in garments purchased in Jewish owned stores.”

“Wrong! Many garments sold in Jewish owned stores are found to be shatnez. As garments are manufactured in non-Jewish factories, the Shulchan Aruch mandates that these garments are obligated to be tested.

  1. “I don’t have to test the garment. If there is a problem, the store will let me know.”

“Wrong! Unfortunately, almost every time shatnez is found in a Jewish-owned store, some garments are unaccounted for. In addition, usually some of the garments have already been worn.”

A limited amount of POPSICLE ORANGE-CHERRY-GRAPE ICE POPS, in “20 Pack + 1 Extra Pop” boxes that state “Product of Germany”, were produced in a non-certified plant and do not bear the Kof-K symbol. Some of these boxes have been found in Kosher stores, mixed with the regular “20 Pack” boxes that bear the Kof-K DE symbol. Consumers should always check every item for Kosher marking.

It has been reported in the name of several Gedolim that as a zechus for the safe and speedy recovery of the boys kidnapped in Eretz Yisroel, women may choose to begin Shabbos and light candles 10 minutes early.

Please be aware that this suggestion only applies to those who accept Shabbos at the regular candle-lighting time (today at 8:56 pm). Those who accept Shabbos early – at the time of Plag (today at 7:38 pm) – cannot and may notaccept Shabbos any earlier than that time.

Please recite the following kapitel Tehillim at the time of candlelighting as a zechus for:

As per the call of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah, the Vaad Harabbonim of Detroit is calling on the entire Jewish community, men, women and older children, to beseech Hashem Yisborach for the speedy, safe return of the three bochurim kidnapped in Eretz Yisrael.

The suggested format is for each shul to call for a special session of Minchah, followed by Tehillim, followed by Maariv, according to the schedule that best fits each kehilla’s time table.

The names of the bochurim are:

The recommended Tehillim are:

said together

said posuk by posuk

Women who are unable to come to shul should recite this order of Tehilim at home.

May we merit to hear
