Shabbos of Emunah (1/3/2015)

Community Pidyon Petter Chamor

The community Pidyon Petter Chamor – a first for the Detroit community – was held Thursday, April 17, 2014 during Chol HaMoed Pesach. Over 1,500 participants attended the event at Young Israel of Oak Park.

2012 Kashrus Symposium

The 2012 Kashrus Symposium was held December 30, 2012 at Young Israel of Oak Park. The video is approximately 2 hours, 8 minutes. Presenters included:

  • Rabbi Shmuel Fuerst, Dayan, Agudas Yisroel of Illinois, on “Questions in the Contemporary Kitchen”
  • Rabbi Doniel Neustadt, Yoshev Rosh of the Vaad Harabbonim of Detroit, on “Local Kashrus Issues and Concerns”
  • Rabbi Sholom Tendler, Kashrus Administrator of the Star-K, in a hands-on demonstration entitled “Bugs, Pests, and Insects”

Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski:
Self-Esteem – the Universal Ingredient

Rabbi Dr. Abraham Twerski addressed the Detroit community on Sunday, July 15, 2012 a the Young Israel of Oak Park. His lecture discussed the importance of self-esteem as well as enhancing self-esteem throughout life.

This program formally introduced Noam Detroit, the Social Services division of the Council of Orthodox Rabbis, to the community.

The program was sponsored, in part, by Jewish Family Service.
